Coming Soon.....

It's never too early to think about Christmas, 21 days to go until the great event......the CHRISTMAS BLOG HOP......I have some great sponsors lined up and ready to go!
BUT
in the meantime, I'm going to keep you busy with some delicious recipes, some knit goodies, and some random giveaways because I am thankful for all of my wonderful followers!

We're going to start with a VERY delicious recipe so you can awe your Thanksgiving guests, I grew up in a home where Thanksgiving was the event of the year, it still is!  My parents own the original farm house, so that's where we end up....this year, all 38 of us!  We spend the entire weekend, have 13-15 pies, two turkeys, it's simply crazy!  Our new tradition is for everyone to go bowling on Friday evening and have a pizza party....what are your Thanksgiving traditions?

....and here's the pie recipe, straight from Bake For the Cure

Caramel Glazed Apple Pie
Ingredients
Apple Pie:
Pastry for double crust pie
8 cups peeled and sliced cooking apples (about 4 to 6 large)
1/3 cup Karo® Dark Corn Syrup
3 tablespoons butter OR margarine, melted
3 tablespoons sugar
1-1/2 tablespoons Argo® OR Kingsford’s® Corn Starch
1 teaspoon Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt

Caramel Glaze:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped pecans
3 tablespoons Karo® Dark Corn Syrup
2 tablespoons butter OR margarine, melted
1 tablespoon Argo® OR Kingsford’s® Corn Starch
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.

Fit one pie crust into bottom of 9-1/2 inch deep dish pie pan.
Add apples.  Combine corn syrup, butter, sugar, corn starch,
cinnamon and salt in a small bowl.  Pour over apples.  Top
with second crust, fold edges under, seal and flute.  Cut a
few slits in top crust to vent.

Place a shallow pan under pie to catch any drips and bake for
45 to 55 minutes, until crust is browned and apples are tender. 
Combine all Caramel Glaze ingredients in a small bowl.  Dollop
over pie and carefully spread over hot crust.  Bake 10 minutes
or until topping is bubbly.

****Very important...be sure to put something under your pie,
because it will drip...I forgot to do this and a haze covered my
kitchen, I had to open the windows and let in the 30 degree chill!

  3. My mom has everyone over for a potluck dinner, organized by my mother so it isn't really pot luck, but it is always alot of very good food. Then we all go for a walk no matter what the weather. Then we play bingo because everyone can play bingo, even the great grandkids. The special part is just getting most of the 37 of us together. hisherand4@aol.com

  12. My tradition is...I make everything! Turkey day is the holiday for cooks so I GET to make everything!

  13. I don't know if our traditions are odd, and I don't recall any odd happenings. We all get together with the extended family, we eat, play card games or board games, turn on the football game, some of the guys go hunting, there is usaully at least one aurgument, some family members take cat naps, Then in the evening everyone who's still there goes home.

  22. I like all the fun ideas. We do the traditional go around the table and tell what you are thankful for, but a few years ago our grandma passed around a bag of candy corns. She told us to take some, but not eat them. Then we had to go around and name our blessings - one blessing for each candy corn we took. It was a lot of fun and a good memory.
