Book Review and Giveaway: Radical by David Platt

"David Platt Challenges Chrisitians to wake up, trade infalse values rooted in the American dream, and embrace the notion that each of us is blessed by God for a global purpose....this is a must read for every believer" -Wess Stafford, president and CEO, Compassion International

David Platt definitely challenges how you worship in his book, Radical. From the first chapter he gets your attention, why do we choose a church? For it's great programs, baseballs fields, soft chairs, or because of the presence of God in your church? David brings up many things that we may wish to keep hidden, human nature can be ugly and this book helps the reader dig deep into his/her soul to find the truth about their worship.

David goes through several different Bible chapters/verses and explains their meaning, many times we take these out of context twisting and turning them to suit our lifestyle. Is this what God wanted?

This is not a boring, dry read, it is really quite interesting, but be prepared to get a glimpse of you deep-most thoughts in this heart and mind opening book.

I also received a small book called, What is Jesus Worth to you? The Radical Question. I like this tiny little book, it's packed full of wonder, can you imagine sneaking out under cover to worship, not just for an hour but for an entire day at the risk of death to not only you but your entire family? No big church potlucks, just worship. A lot of power is packed into this tiny book, ask yourself, what would you do for Jesus, would you risk everything? David uses personal experiences in meeting with friends and strangers that will answer some very strong questions. What is the cost of following Jesus? How will it impact you? What is Jesus worth?

I recommend this book, no matter your beliefs...this book will make you think!

  5. I haven’t read any of this author’s books, but your review sounds like a book that I would take pleasure in reading. I found out that Platt has five college degrees, including a doctorate and two master's degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and two bachelor's degrees from the University of Georgia. Thanks you so much for hosting this giveaway. I am new follower of Blog.
