Book Review: In Every Heartbeat

In Every Heartbeat is a wonderful Historical Romance.  The main characters in this book are three orphans.  Elisabet, Bennett and Pete have grown up together and are now headed off to college.  Libby hopes to become a journalist, Bennett's main goal is to pledge to a fraternity so he will finally belong to someone, and Pete, he hopes to be a preacher.

As the three friends begin their college lives they are immediately thrown into problems, and when Libby learns a truth and Petey searches for his family you begin to see the three friends grow up and learn the importance of sticking together and searching for God.  Of course, Petey has always known God, but what drives him?  And as Libby lands herself a great writing position, will she take it or will something deeper take over and change her plans?  As for Bennett, he sticks up for his friends and after pulling some pranks he takes a turn that is unexpected!

This was a great book and a fun read.  The main characters really grew on me, they are brought to life very well, and while reading you feel their struggles and laugh and cry right along with them.

Pros: Dishwasher Safe, Quality Construction, Comfortable Grip

I like this set of knives, I was unsure at first due to the fact that all but one knife has a serrated blade. I do wish there were more descriptions with the products for sale. I was hoping for a good paring knife, and the serrated blade just doesn't cut apples and such so well, but overall after giving these knives a chance I do like them, for the price of these knives, they are worth it!

The reason I mentioned difficult to clean is due to the serrated blades you do need to be careful with your dishcloths if you are cleaning the knives by hand!

Book Tour The Waiting, by Suazanne Woods Fisher

The Waiting is the second book in the Lancaster County Secrets series. I have not book the first book, The Choice but I don't think you need to read these in any particular order. I did not feel as though I was missing anything, the books stand alone.

Jorie King has been waiting, and waiting for Ben Zook to return home from fighting overseas, when she learns of his death she is devastated.  Not only has Ben died, but her long time friend MaryAnn dies of cancer.  Jorie is on the verge of switching her apron from white to black, a sure sign that she never intends to marry.  In the middle of her confusion she begins teaching in the small one room Amish schoolhouse which tends to be comedic at times.

Caleb is lost without MaryAnn and his brother Ben, left alone to raise his young brother as well as his daughter he gets a bit testy when well intended relatives decide it's high time he remarries.  Caleb endures a stream of Saturday night dinner with eligible women and begins to realize he may do better if he takes matters into his own hands.

Now of course, there are secrets to be revealed which turn a few lives upside down and add to the spirit of the story!

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others, once again we learn that the Amish really aren't as far removed from us as you would think, and Suzanne Woods Fisher does not disappoint her readers!

Book Review: Nudge, by Leonard Sweet

Nudge, by Leonard Sweet:  Awakening each other to the God who's already there.

Nudge is a book that reminds you to pay attention.  Sometimes we get so busy in our life that we forget that God is ALWAYS there, sometimes we look for him, or wonder why he's not with us, but he IS.  He is always there, we just need to embrace him.

Leonard Sweet teaches us to use all of our 5 senses and one sentence that stuck out to me was "He is not obvious and appears where you don't expect him to appear" how true this is, and it's something we need to remember.  God isn't going to jump out at us, but he might Nudge us from time to time!

The main part of this book takes you through each of your senses and how you can find God through your 5 senses which tends to really make you think as well as realize that there's more to God than just sitting around and waiting for him to appear.

I am leaning towards feeling mediocre about this book, it has some interesting theories, but it did not keep my interest, maybe because I like to learn more in a story format, where this book tends to be more in a teaching format.  Beyond my feelings, I can say that there were parts of this book that did stand out to me and make me think and I think that this would be a great book for church study groups.
